Casio Casiotron QW02-26G (02-505) Gold

Casio Casiotron QW02-26G – 1

The Casiotron QW02 was the first watch released by Casio.

Arguably the most beautiful and luxurious Casiotron is the Casiotron QW02-26G (02-505), which was offered in the mid-1970s at the proud price of ¥ 98,000. Today, this watch in unworn condition is probably priceless.

A high-quality stainless-steel design with mineral glass, a screw-down case back, and an original leather bracelet featuring a signed buckle. It houses an extremely rare pre-production module powered by 2 batteries.

The module/movement 02 (as well as 01, 03, and 04) was still a prototype and was soldered by hand.

Stay tuned for more captivating visuals and insights.

Casiotron R-17 X-1

Here’s my first Casiotron, released in 1976. The R-17 X-1 was the first Casio with world time indication.

r17_x1

As far as i know, the first multifunction Casio with world time, stopwatch (only seconds), a counter (counts the number of times you press the button), time memory (records the time when you press a button). World time is limited to these 6 cities/time zones : Tokyo, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, London, Paris.

The module (17) was not made by Casio but by NEC (Nippon Electric Company, today : NEC Corporation) and was used in several watches like the R-17, S-14 and also the “Tissot Data Recorder”.
